Tic Tac Toe
This series came about after reading a New York Times article on game theory. The article carried an illustration of a tic tac toe game. The simplicity of the illustration appealed to me, as it deals with the most basic of design elements - an X, an O, and a line. I created a series of small acrylic paintings, ran out of steam, put them in a box and went on to something else. A year passed and I was moving stuff around in my studio when I came across the box of not so great tic tac toe paintings. Then came the next idea. I photographed the work, digitally altered it in a variety of ways, and this time stuck with it until I came up with something I liked. I ended up with approximately a hundred finished pieces, a few of which are displayed here. I'll rotate this display from time to time.
